HMW — Heritage & Engineering Origins

HMW’s heritage spans more than 120 years, influenced by the inventors and engineers of Kipp Engine Works and carried forward through six generations of family leadership, industrial craftsmanship, and mechanical innovation. Through the Ferguson family lineage, the company has continued evolving while remaining grounded in the principles that built its foundation: reliability, engineering, craftsmanship, and long-term industrial relationships.

Its early innovations in rail and mechanical engineering helped support the infrastructure and reliability that contributed to the growth of major industrial enterprises during America’s industrial expansion, including industries shaped during the eras of Carnegie, Rockefeller, and J.P. Morgan.

Today, HMW continues this legacy through state-of-the-art manufacturing coordination, cloud computing, resource management, vendor integration, and modern engineering practices designed to meet the evolving needs of the mass transit industry.

HMW remains a steward of industrial heritage — built on mechanical connection, motion, reliability, and continuity — principles that have defined its work for over a century while continuing to evolve for future generations.
